Emergency roof repairs may be covered by your insurance, but it depends on the cause of the damage and your policy terms. Most homeowners' insurance policies cover sudden and accidental damage from events such as storms, hail, fallen trees or fire, but they typically won’t cover damage from wear and tear or neglect. To ensure coverage, document the damage with photos, report it to your insurer quickly and check your policy for specific exclusions. It’s also a good idea to have a professional roof inspection to support your claim.

Yes, we provide temporary solutions for your damaged roof until a more permanent repair can be made.

HIRING A ROOFING COMPANY

Local roofers are more accessible and can respond more promptly.

Any reputable roofing company will be more than willing to show their license and insurance. In Florida you can do a license search at www.myfloridalicense.com.

A roofing contractor should have a state license and manufacturer certification above the basic level.

Ask for proof of license and a reference list for previous jobs. Verify they do not require down payments or money up front.

While every roofing company’s quote may be different, it’s important to carefully review each estimate and verify warranties from both the company and manufacturer.

The contract should include any and all extra charges if unseen damages or work is needed to complete the project and a very clear description of the roof repair or replacement services and what is covered.

When hiring a roofing company, watch out for these red flags to avoid scams, poor workmanship, or unnecessary expenses:

Lack of Licensing & Insurance. A reputable roofer should be licensed and carry both liability and workers' compensation insurance. Ask for proof and verify it.

No Local Presence or History. Companies that suddenly appear after storms and disappear just as fast are often storm chasers looking for quick money. When hiring a roofing company, choose a roofer with an established local reputation.

High-Pressure Sales Tactics. If they’re pushing you to sign a contract immediately or offering "limited time" deals that seem too good to be true, be cautious.

No Written Estimates or Contracts. A legitimate roofing company will provide a detailed written estimate, including materials, labor, costs and timelines.

Upfront Payment Demands. Be wary of contractors who demand full payment before starting work. A reasonable deposit is normal, but full payment before completion is a red flag.

Unclear Warranty Information. A trustworthy roofer should stand behind their work with a warranty. If they’re vague about warranty terms, it could signal issues down the road.

Poor Communication. If they’re hard to reach, don’t return calls or avoid answering your questions, it’s a sign of potential problems with reliability and professionalism.

Unusually Low Bids. If a quote is significantly lower than others, the contractor may cut corners, use low-quality materials or add hidden fees later.

Negative Reviews or Complaints. Check reviews on Google, the Better Business Bureau (BBB) and other platforms.

No References or Portfolio. When hiring a roofing company, a reputable roofer should be able to provide references from past clients and show proof of previous work.
